Q: Do I need an accountant?

A: Although you aren't legally required to have an accountant, you are legally expected to complete your own tax return, company accounts and if applicable VAT return in an timely and accurate manner. You are also required to keep your records up to date and meet the long list of demanding reporting obligations to HMRC. In the first instance, the vast majority of people will choose to work with an accountant as this elevates the worry and complications surrounding meeting these obligations. Secondly to this, a qualified accountant will understand tax saving measures and opportunities which will save you money. Accountants are not as expensive as people think and when comparing this cost to the time you save, stress they elevate and tax they save you, it's clear that appointing an accountant is a worthwhile investment.

Q: How easy is it to change accountants?

A: Changing accountants could not be easier. If you've found your current accountant doesn't offer you expert advice, an attenuative service and a tailored solution to your businesses requirements, speak to us. With accountantable, changing accountants could not be easier. We'll speak to your old accountant, arrange for all of the required information to be transferred to us, speak to HMRC on your behalf and transfer any software you're currently using. We take the stress out of switching.

Q: How much does an accountant cost and are you expensive?

A: No. We're not the cheapest, but we're not the most expensive. We pride ourselves on offering an unrivalled service and customise every package to fit your requirements and your needs. This means you'll never pay for a service you do not require and because of our fixed, transparent pricing, you'll never receive a surprise bill.

Q: I've just had my accounts completed, is there any point in changing accountants now?

A: We can’t over emphasise the importance of tax planning at an early stage rather than reactive advice. The same applies to all areas of advice and we are all about helping you change the future, not just reporting what has already happened. Getting on board with us ahead of when your next set of accounts are due could save you money as we may spot areas you're wasting money or could improve tax efficiency ahead of when your next set of accounts are due.

Q: As an accountant in Bristol, can you help my business elsewhere in the UK?

A: Certainly! We have a wide range of clients from across the UK and the world. Although we specialise in UK Tax, we can advise on a wide range of legislation and laws when dealing with tax matters in other countries. We also have a specalist tax team on hand to assist, whether you're looking to trade overseas or spend some of your time in other countries, so have split residency.

Q: Should I set up as a Sole Trader or Limited Company?

A: Running your business as a sole trader is more straightforward and potentially cheaper in terms of accountancy fees. There are, however, some disadvantages when it comes to risking your personal assets and tax efficiencies. However, each case is different and we are more than happy to talk through the benefits, advantages and disadvantages of both and recommend the best solution for your business.
